Growing up Kellie Garmire was influenced by Phoebe Snow’s recordings. On Friday, October 27th Kellie returns to the Nevada Theatre to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Phoebe Snow’s breakout album.
After years of playing venues in New York City, Phoebe Snow launched her seminal album 50 years ago entitled Phoebe Snow. Buoyed by a voice Rolling Stone magazine called, “One of the most gifted voices of her generation” she fused pop, blues, folk, R&B, Americana and jazz in a way that had not been heard before, and the album rose to the top of the charts and was one of the top-selling albums of 1974.
After years of playing venues in Northern California, Kellie Garmire launched her rock group the The Kellie Garmire Band in 2022 following up with an electrifying performance with 1000 Kisses Deep-The Songs of Leonard Cohen. The Union says, “A star is born: Kellie Garmire establishes herself as one of the best in the business.” Kellie has since been engaging audiences with her own blend of blues, rock, country, R&B, folk, and jazz with both the Kellie Garmire Band and The Yuba Blue Jazz ensemble.
Joining her for the performance is an all-star line-up of Nevada County musicians including Gary Regina from Play Date, Peter Wilson from The Deadbeats, David Clouse from Achilles Wheel, Alan Feeney from Bob Mora’s blues band, Bret Cole and Juliet Gobert from the Bob Woods band, Joe Carlson from Artemis Arthur, vocalist Teresita Lyon, and a special guest appearance by Kelly Flemming.
Opening the show will be a rare in-concert solo performance of the singer, song-writer and multi-instrumentalist Jonny “Mojo” Flores from Nevada County’s own Achilles Wheel. Jonny ‘Mojo’ Flores brings guitar virtuosity and heart-felt vocals interwoven into music steeped in the Americana, blues, rock, country, and bluegrass traditions.
