The Miners Foundry Cultural Center and Nevada City Live are pleased to present our annual New Year’s Eve Bash. For more than a decade we’ve been celebrating the New Year at the Miners Foundry. This year local favorites Achilles Wheel take the stage with special guests Rayo! Bar opens at 8:00 p.m. and the show begins at 9:00 p.m. The Miners Foundry offers a no host full bar with snacks available for purchase. Get Tickets!
Achilles Wheel
Achilles Wheel is a California band that blurs the lines between genres with a mix of infectious high energy dance beats and stark lyrical ballads. Roots Rock storytelling combined with dance hall psychedelia.
Much like life itself, their music breathes in and out with joy and pain, hurtling forward like a wheel, intent on hope and love. They play hard as a way to break down walls and celebrate life. Their idealism is not diminished by the harsh light of the modern world as we struggle to live free and have a good time… and in the end – hopefully make a difference. Achilles Wheel fearlessly sings out to these times, the here and now.
Rayo
Rayo! is a world dance music band based in Nevada County, blending Latin, Afro-Cuban, and blues influences into irresistible, feel-good grooves. The five-piece group continues the musical legacy of the late Saul Rayo, a beloved artist whose spirit lives on through his songs.
Founded by Elena Rayo, the band keeps his work alive while infusing fresh energy with her own original compositions and reimagined classics. Classically trained on the violin and self-taught on guitar, Elena leads a dynamic ensemble of longtime collaborators: Kim Kinjo (vocals/percussion), Thomas Schuebel (electric guitar), Ajeet Campbell (bass), and Mark McCartney (drums). With each member contributing vocals, Rayo! creates an electrifying, dance-friendly experience that transcends borders and generations.

To our many dear and beloved friends and fans. Family, really. It’s easy to smile as we reflect on these last 15 years of good times. The world keeps throwing heartache and despair at all of us, and yet we still find joy and rejuvenation through the act of gathering for song and dance. A band and those who gather at these events are a circle, and we have been blessed to be a part of that and to have shared it with you.
So it is difficult to tell you now that we’ll be taking an indefinite hiatus. We’ll all be working on other projects during this time and will keep you abreast of that. There’s no other way to explain this except to say that it is time for a break. We’ll definitely miss you all during this music festival season. Have a great time. There is so much healing music out there and we wish you all peace and kinship.
At this time we have some unfinished recordings to sort out, and will hopefully share that with you as the new year progresses.
Our last full band show is coming up on New Year’s Eve at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City with our friends and local favorites Rayo. And on February 6-7th we’re hosting a Dylan tribute at the Nevada Theater. This show will feature a bunch of guest artists.
