Kick off your holidays by joining a parade of local musicians and wordsmiths celebrating the season, in KVMR’s 4th Annual Holiday Hoedown on Tuesday, December 9th. We can’t wait to get together and share some cheer in downtown Nevada City’s historic Nevada Theatre. We hope you can join us for this fun community event celebrating Nevada County’s arts scene.

When KVMR was seeking to build our permanent home in downtown town Nevada City, the board of the Nevada Theatre reached out to discuss a partnership. The Nevada Theatre owned a large piece of land in Nevada City adjacent to the Theatre and wanted to help KVMR create their dream in the downtown Nevada City. The partnership of the Nevada Theatre and KVMR reached an agreement where the theatre would give KVMR the land and KVMR would build a backstage for the theatre inside the building. All board members of the Nevada Theatre contributed financially to the project and deferred all fundraising for theatre operations while the KVMR building was under construction. Additionally the Nevada Theatre continues to support KVMR by allowing them to use the theatre rent-free when fundraising for the building loan, as in this case with the Holiday Hoedown.

The partnership of the Nevada Theatre and KVMR was groundbreaking, literally and figuratively. A San Francisco attorney expressed utter disbelief that two community organizations could trust each other enough to accomplish the project, in part because in order to accomplish the project, the Nevada Theatre GAVE away the entirety of the Theatre, the Ice House, and the land now under KVMR, to the Bridge Street Trust. Come celebrate the holidays, our community, and this incredible collaboration of Nevada City arts organizations at KVMR’s 4th Annual Holiday Hoedown at the historic Nevada Theatre.
